Ball mill has many types according to the specification,different discharging and driving type.the ball mill structure are similar .Drawing 1-7 is grate type ball mill structure,drawing1-8 is overflow type ball mill structure,drawing 1-9 is tube ball mill structure.

 Ball mill machine body part( include main bearing ,see the drawing 1-10)

1. ball mill shell is one of the main parts , when the ball mill shell working, ,and also, the ball mill shell will bear the static load of the grinding media, and also, the ball mill will bear the grinding media impact force,and the ball mill is rotary, so the ball mill shell must has enough strength and rigidity.This require that the ball mill shell raw materials are high strength,and good quality of materials to assure the ball mill running safely.

The ball mill shell is common steel structure generally, and the strength , plasticity can meet the requirements, with the industry developing, the ball mill production capacity is increasing, the large ball mill shell adopt 16Mn steel in recent years. The spring strength is higher 50% than the Q235., Corrosion resistant capability is higher 50% than Q235., impact toughness( special when it is low temperature) is higher than the Q235.And the 16Mn steel has good Cutting machining solderability and abrasion resistance, fatigue durability. The ball mill shell length is different with the static status. Because it is expansion caused by heat and contraction caused by cold according to different shell temperature. Hence, when install and design the ball mill, we should consider the feature of the expansion caused by heat and contraction caused by cold

Generally, ball mill’s discharging end is close to the driving device, To ensure the normal meshing gears,it is not allowed to have any axial channeling move at the discharging end, sothere is  structure which is adapt to axial thermal deformation of structure.

 

There are two ways of to solve the axial thermal deformation on the ball mill structure, one is preapre the gap (a.,b) between the quil shaft and the bearing,see the drawing 1-11. andother is install several steel  stick  between the bearing house and the base plate,see the drawing 1-12. When it is expansion caused by heat and contraction caused by cold , the main bearing house at the feeding end can move along the stick.

 

Every diaphram should open on mill door( man hole), the mill door usage is change liners,compartment plate,fill or pour out the grinding balls and inspect the mill inside when stop the ball mill.
The ball mill main bearing is sliding bearing which is used usually,its diameter is very large, and the length is very short,see the drawing 1-10. the bush adopt babbit bearing casting., the difference is that its only bush at the bottom half. The whole bearing except bearings with babbitt casting , other adopt the casting steel.
Because of the large loading and large span of the ball mill,, Will take place some degree of buckling,and the measurment error of the  manufacture and the assembly is difficult assure the correct axiality. Hence, the bearing can be produced adjustable type, Spherical watts seat 2 and the spherical watts seat 4 can move relatively as per the ball Centre for rotating center ,to distribute the load on the bearing bush.
There is dowel pin between the spherical watts seat 2 and spherical watts seat 4,to limit the spherical watts move range, when install, you can use bolt 6 to adjust the spherical watts seat 2 place, you can use wedge to adjust ,too.
Main bearing is the key part of the ball mill, so its lubrication problem must be attended fully,
Generally adopt thin oil lubrication, small ball mill can adopt the oil ring to lubricate, oil ring drops lubrication ,etc.
